Hiccups at the range

Hi I'm new here but I have a couple kimbers so I thought I should finally join. I've had my kimber micro now for around 3 months but just got around to shooting it yesterday. I cleaned it the day before and lubed it but yesterday I put it in its holster and pocket carried it all day till I got to the range. The first 3 magazines went by perfect then the 4th one had the first problem where it fired the round but it did not eject the casing I had to manually rack the slide to get the casing to eject and load the next round. Then the next issue was twice in the middle of the next two mags I would pull the trigger and the hammer would go forward but the round did not fire. I did notice that two times the slide would not go fully into battery so I would give it a small tap with my palm and that would fix it so I am wondering could that have been my issue with the rounds not firing? The rounds I took out from the gun when they didn't go off had no indication on the primer of the firing pin hitting them so I was thinking maybe those two times I just didn't notice that it didn't go fully into battery and pulled the trigger anyways. I was shooting Winchester sxz ammo and fired 50 rounds with those 3 being the only issue. Anyways I am wondering if I should get the gun checked out or is maybe all of this from the gun still being new and needing to be broken in.

Thanks for any help

My Micro had digestive issues with Winchester ammo? 95gr FMJ or 90gr XTP is what she likes. I would check to see if your pistol has the newer recoil assembly too. The newer version has a notch that will track on the barrel milled into the guide rod end and a flat wire spring. Kimber has been sending out the newer design for free to owners having problems. Good luck, keep us posted.

I'll give different ammo a try it was 95gr fmj but it was winchester like you said. I'll have to check during lunch I have the gun with me but I'll have to wait till I can go take it apart in my truck to check.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois 15lonestar. Check your recoil spring as Mark suggested and see if it's the newer flat wire recoil spring. If you've had your gun for a while as your post indicated then there is a good chance it's the older style round wire and that would account for the problems you're having. Give Kimbers customer service a call and they will send you a new spring and guide rod.

Yup, that's the old one. Keep in mind too that although Kimber doesn't specify a break in period for the Micros a few hundred rounds or so is a reasonable number to smooth things out. Good luck with her :-)

Just called and they are sending it over to me. First time calling and they have great customer service it took a while to get someone on the phone because of them having a lot of calls but once he was on the guy was very helpful and said he was sending me his business card in case the spring and guide rod didn't fix it I could contact him and he could get me taken care of
