Poll on Micro Carry 380 Issues

I'm a bit surprised by the number of folks buying the Micro pistols and having issues with them. Let's try a poll to see what the experiences show.

This poll assumes you've cleaned the new firearm properly before use and are using quality ammo in good shape. I realize there are a lot of variables here, so let's keep this simple.

In the first 100 rounds fired with your new Kimber Micro Carry 380, how many failures did you experience? A failure is any event that occurs during firing the gun that is not considered "normal" - such as a slide not staying back when it should, a failure to feed, stovepipe, or failure to eject.

I had two fails to feed, and an accidental mag release by me within my first 100 rounds. Not too shabby.

My issue was failure to return to battery out of the box. I sent it back to Kimber and it has been perfect since. Rarely the slide will lock back with ammo in the mag. I did some fileing on the slide lock. Haven't tested that yet. Otherwise I have no complaints and love how it shoots.

...I had a few failures in the first 100, and each 100 after that, sent the pistol in and things were improved. I've averaged 1 failure in every 200 or so rounds since then? Problems NEVER occur in the first 25 or so rounds so maybe it has something to do with getting dirty or me relaxing my grip?
...on the poll, keep in mind that some issues can "shoot themselves out" so a better question could be about function after 250 rounds or so? Just a thought :-)

I'm not sure how to answer this poll. I guess technically I had 3. They were the first round of each of the first 3 mags. I had to work to get them to chamber. I was using flat tipped Winchester ammo. The rest of the mag ran perfectly. Walked out and bought some round nose ammo and ran some hydra shok and XTP ammo. Not a single issue since. 150 rounds through at this point. So I want to say no problems, but I guess I should say 1-3 failures.

Slide won't stay back after emptying the magazine about 20% of the time. Doesn't concern me too much. No other problems. Put about 50 rounds through the pistol yesterday w/o problems.

Been shooting 94gr Monarch Brass with no issues, and the old guide rod and spring. However I am not waiting till I have issues I called Kimber and they are sending out the new setup now. Thanks to everyone here and their advice I'm going to upgrade to the new flat spring, and rod.

When both the 380 and the 9 had a few problems when new I didn't worry too much. Kimbers are tight from the factory and need to break in. After about 600 rnds the 380 started to fail to feed occasionally and after about 800 rnds it got so bad I contacted Kimber and received a heavier spring and guide.

The 9 was exceptionally tight at first but with the exception of a few stove pipes ran well until I had run about 500 rnds through it. Currently it fails to lock back on an empty mag about 25% of the time so I guess I need to call the factory on another Kimber pistol.

The guys at the range are becoming less than impressed about Kimber Micros.

Finally shot new new Micro 380, and unfortunately I had 11 out of 19 mags fail to lock the slide back after the last round. Granted, this was with the 7-round magazine which is known to have this issue - but I did mention that as a failure type in my original post. I also had 2 FTE's out of 19 mags, 133 rounds.

Still, I think the gun is promising, I'll give it a chance. I'm not too concerned about the slide not locking back, but it's not a good sign. I'm sure the 6-round mag will do much better (I had left it home, accidentally).
