Have you used +P .380 ammo? Recommended?

Just wondering how this works compared to regular .380 ammo? Recommendations? Experiences?

Far as I know there's no SAMMI spec for +P 380. I shy away from any 380 over the SAMMI spec.

I'll give you my thoughts. Albert is correct that there is no SAMMI specs for +p .380ACP, but that doesn't mean it is unsafe to load .380's hotter. Underwood does this with pretty good results. However, IMO, speed just makes the .380 worse. They just aren't heavy enough to reliably expand and penetrate in most bullet designs. Even the XTP does worse at higher speeds in the .380. I had hopes that Federal was going to find the sweet spot with their 99gr. HST, but it seems they haven't quite got it. IMO, stick with XTP's, FMJ's or one of the Lehigh Defense XP's or XD's loaded to standard pressures. Penetration always trumps expansion. Making it faster isn't need. Plus they are easier shoot and less wear and tear on your pistols. Shot placement still trumps all.

I ran a box of Cor-Bon +P last spring. The ammo ran ok but the recoil spring (one of the old style ones) was toast when I cleaned up later. It had occurred to me that using a Wolfe 12# spring with the ammo could be an option but I wouldn't trust it without a fair amount of testing. I haven't had a failure with the Fiocchi Extrema 90gr XTP so that's what I'm sticking with. Like sawman556 said, shot placement trumps all. In any case do experiment with several ammos and find what runs best in YOUR pistol. These Micros are not all the same, just because mine will run the Extrema reliably yours may not?
Good luck :-)

We use it as a conceal carry round.

I'm currently using the Blackhills version of the XTP. I might try a box of the Underwood stuff for shits and giggles. The Buffalo Bore stuff is almost twice as expensive. I also like the 65gr. LDXD round. Blackhills and Underwood are loading this round as well.

Seems like the Precision One, Hornady Custom, and Fiocchi Extrema are pretty solid in penetration and expansion.

These were sitting on my porch when I got home today. I should be able to get to the range during the beginning of next week so I will post my results. I have fired numerous XTP's through my Micro so I will just fire 1 box of the UW and see how much ass they have behind them and if accuracy suffers over the Black Hills version I'm currently carrying.

Well, i took my Kimber Micro Raptor to the range yesterday with 40 rounds of Underwood 90gr. +P XTP's. I've already confirmed the XTP functions fine by shooing approximately 200 rounds of Hornady Custom, Hornady American Gunner and Black Hills through my Micro. I used 3- 6 round magazines topping them all off just like I carry. The last mag had a couple of FMJ's at the bottom. I'm using a Sig P238 recoil and firing pin spring. I also brought Wolff extra power mag springs, for a Colt Mustang in case I ran into timing issues, which I did not. All rounds fired and ejected perfectly. Recoil is noticeably warmer than standard FMJ loads, but not nearly as hot as I expected. They probably would be a handful in an LCP, but I never like shooting my LCP with anything. Accuracy was decent for me holding a 5" group at 10 yards. My local indoor range won't allow me to use my chronograph, but my guess is muzzle velocity is somewhere in the ballpark of 1075 fps. I never thought getting hit by a .380 would be fun, but this stuff will definitely leave a mark. Yes, it's still a .380 and shot placement is still king.

I must confess I was a little hesitant in using this ammo, but my concerns were unwarranted. It's simply no big deal. Though I won't shoot this ammo on a weekly basis, burning through my carry ammo twice a year should be no problem. I also give props to Underwood, their quality and customer service is second to none.
