Issue with manual safety engagement

Question on the Micro 9CDP. Brand new gun put 100 rounds through it and had the thumb safety engage 5 times during course of fire. I made sure it was not shooter induced. I had my buddy watch to make sure my thumb did not touch the thumb safety. He fired two mags also but no safety issues. I have a Sig P938 which is an identical gun and controls. Never had that issue with the safety engaging in its own. The detent seems weak and not a real positive click.
Has anyone experienced this issue. This is my second high end Kimber and not too happy with them at this point. My first one needed to go back to get the chamber reamed due to tolerances being too tight on a master carry ultra 45 acp
Any feedback will be appreciated. Spoke with Kimber already and they are telling me to send the gun back

Welcome, and thank you for your service as a peace officer. I can't help you because I haven't bought the M9 yet, I'm waiting to see how the reviews go in a few more months.

I don't have a Micro 9, but I just looked at some pics and the thumb safety looks large and in the way to me. Much more so than a P938, which I used to have.
Can you shoot it with a grip that places your right thumb on top of the safety?
That will for sure rule out accidentally bumping it.
I shoot all my 1911's with my thumb on top of safety. I'm pretty sure I did with my little Sig, too.

Welcome from St Lou..

My Micro 9 has a very distinctive sturdy click when I flip it on or off....

Hate to say it but get yourself an RMA# and send it to Yonkers..

You can try replacing the spring with a Wolff for the Colt Mustang. The Wolff spring is a tad longer so you can trim the one end to your desire. Or call Kimber and get them to send you one. No reason to send it to Yonkers for 6 weeks, IMO.
