Slide not locking when empty

I have a brand new micro 380. the slide locks when the 1st mag empties, but then I have to break the gun down and reassemble to get to lock once. I'm using the Kimber mag, even bought a 2nd once (also Kimber product) and same issue. A gunsmith said the follower is not engaging and to send the gun back. anyone else having this problem?

I'm a little disappointed that my $200 Smith and Wesson is way more reliable than this $600 Kimber.

Do you have the slidestop "spring" in the correct position?

What 2sharp2 said, the slide stop spring is real easy to get knocked out of position during reassembly.

The slide lock spring should be tight against the frame and you should hear a faint click when you push the slide stop in. It also could be the follower. See post #4 in the linked thread.
