Kimber Raptor minor finish flaw

Hello all,

I just picked up my Kimber Raptor Micro 9 yesterday afternoon and the pistol looks beautiful, however I did notice a minor finish flaw on the dust cover. I was thinking about reaching out to Kimber about it, but not sure if they will do anything about being that it's only a cosmetic issue.

I complained about a finish issue on one of mine and they said nothing they can do, (or willing to do). Good luck and give them hell if they won't help.

Welcome to the site from Tennessee.

To be honest (not trying to be mean) but that blemish is something you should have brought to the attention of the seller BEFORE you signed on the dotted line and took possession.

If your going to shoot and enjoy it I would not worry about it.

That's pretty minor, IMO. You can call Kimber, but my guess is they won't do anything about it and if they do, it's going to take a while. Personally, I'd shoot the crap out of it until it needs refinishing. Then send it to Robar(NP3) or Birdsong(Black T). FWIW, the KimPro finish sucks in my experience.

Welcome from Northeast, Pa. If your gun is brand new I would hope they do something for you. I would definitely give CS a call.
I always inspect a gun before I sign for it but I have also missed some blemishes in my inspection. Nothing real bad but a little disappointing.

Welcome to the forum! To be honest, if it functions 100% that's all I worry about. Take it out, shoot it and if it's all good try not to worry about it especially if it's a carry gun.

I always inspect before buying, but that's something that I would've likely missed too.
Let us know how it shoots.

I'm with most everyone else. It's almost unnoticeable, and in an area that's not normally visible anyway. If you send it to Kimber, even if they decide to do something, the remedy would be to either strip and refinish (probably 8-10 weeks) or replace the frame which will cost you another NCIC fee because it'll be a new serial number.

Do yourself a favor - just consider it a 'beauty mark' and shoot the crap out of it.

Thank you all for your input. I purchased the firearm from an online gun sale and didn't completely look it over when my FFL dealer received it. The blemish is nothing that I can't live with, I was just a little disappointing with such an expensive pistol.

I have not shot it yet, so I wait and see if I have any function issues and if for some reason it would need to go back for repair, I'll address the finish blemish. If I have no function issues with it, I'll just carry it and maybe get it refinished in the future.

I think that is a wise and logical plan.
