Freedom Munitions 380

Last week I ran 100 rounds of Freedom Munitions 100gr RNFP through my Micro 380 and Sig P238 without any problems. The little pistols seem to like the FM flat nose. Today I ran 100 rounds through my Micro 380, mostly problem free, I did have a 1 FTL and 1 FTE, however I think it was the ammo and not the pistol.

I know most of you like the FM but does it run dirty? Today I was getting hit in the face, eyes, arms, and neck with debris! A hot wad landed on my arm! I wish I had taken a photo of it but I was too quick to get it the hell off of me! Anyway, it didn't happen with the full 100 rounds just a couple of magazines worth. Just wondering what you think was going on with this ammo? Just some bad rounds?

Well good news is that the M380 ran well, and so did my M9. Put 50 round of Tula 115 gr and 50 rounds of Winchester 124 gr through the M9 without any problems.

Yep...I've had some "bad" batches with the Freedom ammo (in 380 & 9mm)...it's rare, but I'll bet they will replace the rounds you aren't happy. They did for me.

I have to admit that the Federal ammo (rifle, pistol and revolver) I've used for many years has probably been the most reliable and clean firing...it does cost a bit more though.

I generally buy whichever ammo is the best deal, FM's prices are usually among the cheapest I find. None of my guns have issues with any brass ammo I buy, FM, American Eagle, CCI, Speer, Federal and several others. I don't see any of these brands being any cleaner or dirtier than the rest. I clean my guns after every range trip and they are all dirty after a range trip.

Yes, I agree. I clean my pistols after the range too and they are always pretty grimy no matter what ammo I use. However, I never had gun powder sparks and debris hitting me from ammo before. At one point it felt like my eye lashes were melting from it....I wear eyeglasses, so it went right down onto my eye.

I agree with Cybercycle on the Federal ammo....haven't found any that shoots cleaner and a decent price at Wallyworld.

I've never had that happen either, if it did I would definitely try something else. Ammo prices are very competitive these days and for about $10 per 1000 more you could choose several different brands that won't burn your eye lashes off.

I've have had soo many problems with 9mm Luger 147 gr RN New
that the ammo is going back to FM and the 9mm CDP Pro is returning to Kimber.

Both companies are sending return shipping labels.

The Range Officer actually commented is report sounded like I was shooting 22 cal.

Thanks, that's good to know that FM will take the ammo back. When I placed my first order it was mainly for 45 ACP new, but I ordered a 200 rounds of the 380 New just to try out and the first 100 were fine, so I went ahead and ordered 1000. They should be here next week, but hopefully they will not be a problem but at least I know that FM will do something about it if they are.

On a recent trip to the range I was shooting FM 124gr new ammo. When I was cleaning up I noticed that this ammo wasn't brass, it was steel. I sent I text to Marshall and asked if this is normal because the 45 acp 230gr was brass. I don't remember what he said, we were both drinking at the time. I was a little disappointed but it worked fine so I didn't contact FM. Here's the box.

Interesting that the box is not marked as steel casing. I've had some Blazer ammo with steel casings but it was marked for it. The 380 rounds that I shot were brass casings. I ordered some 124 gr new too so I check them out when they arrive. I didn't have any problems with the steel casings, but I guess you just get used to seeing the brass and copper and I didn't like the look of the steel, but as long as they function who cares?
