New Micro Raptor .380

Just bought one. Cleaned it and lubed it a bunch with the oil it came with. Took it to the range and shot about 4 or 5 mags of blazer brass and a couple mags of Hornady CD.

The very first time I loaded it and released the slide, it didn't go fully into battery. That was with blazer in the six round mag. After that it went great. I think it failed to lock open after the final shot one time. I'm thinking it was due to my form or grip. Hopefully. I'm new to guns and very new to semi autos.

I was worried after reading all of the negative posts on these guns. I'm still nervous but not as much. I was expecting a FTE or FTF but thankfully had none so far.

Fun little gun! Just enough recoil to feel it but not enough to be a handful in the slightest.

I'll update this after I get more rounds through it. I just wanted to post since I think a lot of the time when things go good, we don't hear about it.

Mike if your using the slide stop as a slide release it could fail to go into battery. I would recommend using the slingshot method. With the slide locked open insert your magazine and then pull the slide fully to the rear and release.

Thanks, I'll try that. I have seen people mentioning the sling shot method but I wasn't exactly sure what that meant.

The Raptor is such a cool looking pistol! Glad that you are happy with it.

I just noticed that the 7 round mag I have wont lock the slide open, with the mag empty. I think it did before I took the gun shooting but I am not positive. I'm thinking the one failure to lock open after the mag was empty at the range was using this mag. I mostly used the 6 rounder at the range.

I might just see if I can return it and get another 6 rounder. I bought the 7 round mag separately when I purchased my micro. I don't really like the way the 7 rounder looks or fits either.

Thanks I'll try one. I took the spring out of mine and stretched it. It seems to be working now?

I have two 7 round Kimber magazines, both fit less than tightly and are prone to intermittent failures. I've decided to stick with the 6 rounders. The overall size winds up being smaller, that's why I bought the Micro after all, and the have proven to be dependable. Congratulations on the new shooter, remember those pics :-)
