Ammo

Hi!
New to this forum and new to shooting.

My husband just purchased me a Kimber Mico Raptor 380. We have had several issues with it such as: stove pipes, fail to eject, fail to feed. One magazine has issues and once I took it out of circulation the others did fine.

My question is what would be the best ammo to put through this gun to get it broken in. I shot around 300 rounds through it today and I only had maybe 3 times with issues and none with the last 100 rounds which were sig. We have put probably at least another 400 or more into already.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and so happy to become part of the Kimber community.

I bought my wife two Micro 380s; one of them is the Bel Air model the other is the CDP-LG model. We tested both of them with Winchester white box and that worked just fine as long as they were the round nose variety versus the semi wadcutters Flatnose. And then we tested them with Hornady critical defense ammo and that seem to work just fine also. When I first bought the Bel Air model it came with the old original recoil spring set up and we had many malfunctions. Called customer service and they sent the new recoil system; installed that and it ran like a Swiss watch.

Welcome from Texas. I bought my wife a Stainless Micro 380 and a Belair Micro 380. The Stainless one I had to send back to Kimber after she shot 400 rounds through it with different issues. They took care of the problem at no cost to us. The Belair has been okay. The only ammo I have bought is Sig and Freedom Muntions. I didn't know about FM at the time when I bought the pistols but that is all I will purchase now. Check their website out. Enjoy

Welcome to KT miss Karen. I'd say stick with new 95gr FMJ for break in and range use. My Micro likes Fiocchi, Gecko, American Eagle and Aguilla. Both Hornady and Fiocchi 90gr XTP have tested really well as far as a carry round goes. Much better than a basic hollow point. I haven't tried the Freedom Munitions 95gr FMJ or 90gr XTP but many of the faithful here use their larger caliber options with great results. They offer both new and remanufactured ammo, I'd stick with the new for what it's worth?
...don't forget to post pictures with your range reports :-)

I am new with this so I am not sure what a range report looks like or even what it is. As far as ammo goes I will only use new. So you have a Mico 9?

A range report is basically a story about your experience with you new gun. How many rounds did you shoot, ammo brand, ammo type, did you have any issues with the gun. Did it perform 100%, how well did you shoot, how far were you shooting, did you clean and lube the gun before shooting. Things like this.

It really depends on how detailed of a person you are. It could just say: I fired my pistol today and had fun.
