Smile Well, I did it. Kimber Micro 380 Desert Night

As I mentioned earlier, I have been thinking of a Kimber to use to replace my Colt .380 Government Model that I purchased new, several decades ago.
My, not new any more, Colt .380 Government Model

As much as I don't like "tati-cool" I do like the look of the Desert Night model. I have been keeping an eye on Gun Deals in order to have a good idea of what "good" price would look like.

I have been keeping a close watch on Gun Broker for one selling below the lowest price I could find elsewhere. I found one and in a couple of weeks it will be at my FFL and in my hand.

Well, it arrived and I got to my FFL yesterday. I haven't had time to shoot it yet. I may be able to in a couple of days.

I noticed that the trigger is a bit heavier than the Colt in the picture above in this thread; that may have more to do with years of use than anything else. That being said, the trigger ins't, bad; just a bit (and a tiny bit) heavier.

The Colt magazines do fit. I have some Kimber magazines on order. They seem to be taking a while to get here.

Other observations, my wife immediately liked the colour combo of the Kimber and I may end up ordering a second one. Measured weight (empty, no magazine) was 13.5 oz, 5.5 ounces lighter than the Colt and only 1.2oz. heavier than the Glock 42.

Sweet ... The Colt a real classic, but sometimes you need something new. It's almost year's end as they say in the fishing tackle business ...."New Year, New Gear" .... Enjoy!

Nice! That Colt is pretty cool too... I like guns with miles on them.

I was over at a friends this weekend with steel targets set at distances from ten to twenty yards. I noticed that I was able to hit with it a lot easier than with the Colt. I ascribe that to the better sights.

My friend was close to unable to hit any of the targets with either. I ascribe that to the fact that he shoots full sized autos almost exclusively. There is probably some technique to shooting small pistols that I have picked up over the years. However, we were both terrible with the Glock 42, the issue there is just the poor Glock trigger.

The only trouble I had was that the slide was locking back accidentally. I did a little bit of filing and it seems to be working right now.

In all, I see it is being a suitable daily carry gun for me.

For me, there was a learning curve shooting the Micro. The problem was what to do with my hands. I had been shooting 4 and 5 inch pistols. It took consistent practice to become comfortable shooting it.

I have the M9 and my wife has thee M380. I would be comfortable carrying either. Hope you continue to enjoy.
