Strange Performance

I bought my Micro Carry a few months ago, along with a 250 round box of Blazer Brass. Since then, I've ran about 450 rounds though it. 150ish from the original box and also a few other boxes I've picked up along the way; all Blazer Brass.

The first 300 rounds went well with only a few failure to feed issues. A few weeks ago I put the gun up dirty after firing 100 or so rounds through it (I know, shame). Any way, a few days later I took it out and started getting lots of failure to feed issues; about 1 in 3 failed. I chalked it up to a dirty gun and took it home and cleaned it up nicely and gave it a thorough dose of lube.

Today I took it out (cleaned and lubed) and ran another 60 rounds though it. Several failed to feed, failed to fully engage. And quite a few failed to eject as well.

I've always had a good grip and had someone else shoot just to be sure I wasn't limp-wristing.

I'm thinking the gun should be mostly broke in at this point. Should I return to Kimber or is there something else I should try first?

I am sorry, I don't own a Micro so I have NO first hand knowledge. I do know that too much lubrication can be bad with any Kimber. If I were you I would call Kimber as soon as feasible and discuss this with them. Good luck

Have you used any ammo other than Blazer? I was unsure from your post. If not I would try some other brand ammo. I don't own a Micro but I have shot a friends and it was a little picky until we gave it some extra lube which it seemed to need.

Try recleaning and use just one drop of good gun oil on each side of the slide that's plenty. See if that helps, mine doesn't like being over lubed. Also I have found Blazer Brass the most unreliable rounds in most of my pistols. Poor quality control, I had one box of 9mm with 2 missing primers!! Right from the factory. I won't shoot Blazer anymore.

I've heard some people say use little lube and others suggest running it wet until break-in (500 rnds+-). I run my XDM 9mm with just a drop on each slide and its been flawless...I'll dry the Micro out and give this a try.

In addition to the Blazer, I've put maybe 60 rounds of the Hornady Critical Defense through it with no problem. Even the Blazer was great - just started having issues the last 100 rounds or so. Also, Blazer isn't a brand I've used in any of my other pistols but I had assumed it was considered good quality ammo. That said, I know some guns hate some ammo so I'll try something else and see what happens.

I'll give all of these a try plus call Kimber and see what they have to say. Thanks all.

This is just my way of lubing, but I take a Q-Tip with some lube on it and go down each rail...

I put the firearm back together and rack the slide to lock it in place and drop a little bit of lube down each each side of the rail from the muzzle end...

I rack the slide 50 times, wipe of any lube that drained out and then go shoot it...

Others have their way of doing it but my 4 Kimbers have never failed me yet...

BTW...I have used Blazer and have never had an issue with the brand...

I pretty much do the same without the qtip. I put a drop of oil on each side of the slide and stand it up and let it run down. Then assemble, rack a few times and wipe down. Good to go. But I'm a stickler for cleaning each and every time I use it.

I actually oil the slide from the muzzle end and put it in between a couch cushion and let it drain to the other end and later flip it the other way and do the same thing...

Then rack it 50 times and do a wipe down and then to the safe it goes...

I know...I'm a retard...
