Micro 380 Crimson Trace

My neighbor purchased a Kimber micro 380 two weeks ago at the local gun show. She took it to the local range yesterday and the first round failed to feed on almost every round. It did the same thing when I loaded the magazine or I attempted to fire it.

I have field stripped, cleaned (CLP), and lubed (LSA) twice. Operating it indoors (with the safety on) I am still having issues feeding first round and sometimes second round of Federal 95 Gr FMJ and Blazer 95 Gr FMJ but Hornady Critical Defense 90 Gr FTX works most of the time (but not all the time).

About ready to go to the local "Toy Store" and pickup some other brands of target 380 and maybe 100 rounds for Hornady Critical Defense FTX so some additional range time. Not sure the additional range time will help. IF it is not 100% reliable, I am going to have to recommend to send it back.

Joined this forum to look at what others have done with this problem. One of the polls makes it look like about 1/3 of these pistols have problems.

Kinda wish I had another magazine to try and not just different ammo. Local shop did not have a 7-round magazine in stock.

GaryNC, welcome to the site from Tennessee.

1. Slingshot slide to chamber first round.
2. Use FMJ round ball ammo.
3. Run the little pistol WET! I.E. Extra lube
4. Tap loaded magazines in your hand or solid surface on the back (primer end) to seat bullets in mag.
5. Try loading one or two fewer rounds in magazine until break-in is complete.
6. Different ammo and magazines is always a good idea to try.
7. Make sure little spring is in correct position on the slide stop.
8. May be some other things that I can't think of at the moment...

2Sharp2 pretty much covered the key steps. The RN Ammo is especially important, at least based on my experience. Mine was a PITA at first but once I got around 700 rounds through it, she’s a smooth operator now

First, Welcome to a great forum from a Middle Tennessean. Our Kimber Micro Carry 380 loves the American Eagle Brand to shoot. It doesn't like the Blazer stuff one bit. Ours has worked flawlessly after I changed out the spring. Something I use to check it after I clean it...https://www.amazon.com/Pistol-Metal-.../dp/B000VUFQM6

My Micro 380 FDE is a flawless shooter. I bought mine used and what looked to be almost new. The Micro's when new are stiff and need a break in. Mag springs are on the stiff side (as compared to my wife's Sig P238) . For a few hundred rounds I loaded -1 round and this makes for easier stripping of the first round (I have the 6 round flush mags). You can also add some toothpaste on the frame rails to accelerate the frame break-in. Be patient the Micros will feed reliable as time goes on. My Micro feeds Fiocchi RN's, Sig VCrown's and my RN handloads with excellent feeding.
