FrogLube

I just got off the phone with a nice lady at Kimber and during the course of our conversation the subject of FrogLube came up. She raised the question as I had noted that it was one of the lubes I'd tried out on my Micro (apparently they keep excellent documentation). She said they don't recommend it at all as it causes the slide to stick. Anyway, just thought I'd share that.

As an aside, Kimber is absolutely standing behind their product regards my Micro. I'm pretty impressed with the level of support they've provided. If I'm ever in the market for another new 1911 style gun, I'll be a repeat customer.

Has the Micro been replaced or are they tweaking it Spotly?

I could only get a comment that they're "making it right". Sounds like they prefer (rightly so) to make the gun work correctly. Bottom line for me is that I get back a quality pistol.

I've been using FrogLube on all of by guns and they all seem nice and smooth. Would be interested in any semi-scientific comparisons for gun lubes if anyone is aware of any.

FL smells nice, comparatively... otherwise, I've notice nothing to be gained from it.

I've been using Frog Lube for 3+ years on all my pistols. Rifles get Hoppes and Mobile 1. Works for me. YMMV

I've used it on some of my shotguns and handguns with mixed results. It appears to keep them moving smoothly in the short term, but when stored for short periods it seems to gunk up. I've also experienced the same issue with my shotguns during cold weather hunting.

I just checked out my XDm comp pistol, which has been in the safe for 4 months and it actually did seem a little stickier. Never seemed to have a negative impact but maybe with the light spring on the Micro...

For what it's worth... I sent my Solo in for service about a year ago. One of the 1st questions the rep asked me on the phone was, "what type of lube do you use?" I told him Ballistol. He said, "great, keep it up."

Kimber probably has a contract with Shooters Choice to include the little packets of FP-10 lubricant with each gun they ship and promote the product.
