New UNFIRED Micro Belair is going back to Yonkers

Problem number one, needs to have night sites installed.
Problem B, needs and ambi-safety because the wife is left-handed.
Just finished with the clean and lube on the brand-new Micro. There was some black oil on the feed ramp and top of the frame so it has been test fired. No noticeable play in the barrel to frame when it's locked up. Tried to install a seven round Sig mag but it would not click and lock into place. I think it just needs a little Dremel tool action around the plastic pinky extension. The six rounders do click in place and when the slide is cycled they will hold it open; they seem to operate fine but I will have to verify that that during live fire at the range next week. So far everything looks great I'm really impressed with the build and can't wait to take the wife out and shoot it. I suppose we should fire it before I send it back for those mods just in case there's anything else they might need to address but I am feeling pretty optimistic right now.

If it were me I would run a few hundred rounds through it to see if everything was fine with it or not...

It might save an additional trip to get "Yonkered" if it needs it....JMHO

A BIG congrats to your lovely wife.......

Since you haven't fired it yet why not have your dealer to return it for the upgrades, he might be able to get you a better deal through his Kimber rep.

That's the reason I went with the CDP Micro for my wife, that plus the laser grips.
But man those Belair's are nothing but flat out cool, maybe I should have explored the option you are going with because I know my wife would have loved it.

I completely understand your reasons, but it seems a shame to "fix" something that's not broke.

"AMEN" on the fire it thought

... be sure your slide stop clicks into place too, there've been some mentions of some not staying put.
... for a lefty grip be sure "Lady Cucamonga" avoids engaging the slide stop when firing, doesn't take much to lock out the slide.
... good luck with her :-)

The wife is totally ambidexterous but I discovered she was left eye dominant and coached her to shooting left-handed and she does do a little better that way. She used to shoot both hands left or right and then I noticed her tilting her head too much when she shot right-handed that's when I had her do the dominant eye test.

Marshall and his inner circle here in the Lou have a saying when we see a gun that is gorgeous.....It's a simple sentence...

"Damn bro, you just made my wood get up"......
