2/1/16 range report

Had a chance to get out today for a bit. This is the second time since my Micro was returned from Kimber. Today the first 50 rounds were the Fiocchi 95gr FMJ red box. Had one fail to eject at around 35 rounds in? Shell was completely chambered with the next round behind it? That's a new one. The rest of the box ran fine. I shot 3 mags of Hornady 90gr XTP, no problems. Up next some Sig Elite 100gr FMJ, at about half way through that box of 50 I had one instance where the slide did not return completely to battery, rest of box ran fine. Slide locked out after last round every time, so that's good :-)
... Not so good though, I found that my slide locks closed when the safety is "ON"? I guess you're supposed to be able to rack it in the locked position? I'm waiting to hear back from Kimber as to how to proceed? I think she may be headed back to Yonkers?

What did Kimber report they did to the gun on return trips? Not that factory reports are always honest (even Nighthawk was deceptive as I marked parts etc).

That stoppage (empty case in chamber and loaded round attempting to feed behind is a failure to extract.

Failures to extract are usually extractor tension o hook/claw profile. Can be a out of spec chamber or damaged/burr/tool marks in chamber.

Failure to return to battery are generally a lack of or no leade in front of the chamber.

Where was the hammer? You can't cock the hammer with the safety on, therefore if the hammer is forward you can't rack the slide with the safety on. If the hammer is cocked you can rack the slide even with the safety on. Or did I misunderstand your situation?

Yes what BL1911 says. Hammer has to be back. Took me a bit to figure that one out.

You guys just made my day! I, was in fact attempting to rack it with the hammer forward. Good to know that there's not a problem :-)
