Range Report Kimber Micro Carry .380 Two-Tone

Attached are photos of my Micro Carry .380 Two-Tone I received as a gift this past Christmas from my wife and son. I changed the checkered Rosewood grips to original SGM Black Walnut Starburst grips. The pocket holster is a custom from the Absaroka Kid.

Before taking the gun to the range I field stripped it, gave it a thorough cleaning, and lubed it heavily as I had read in preparation. The lube that I used was Silver Pig Gun lubricant. I have read the forums everyday since I received the Micro Carry and was getting nervous in anticipation of problems.

Yesterday I ran 75 rounds of Freedom Arms 90 grain XTP Hornady (new) through it flawlessly. Not one mishap occured as I was shooting it for the first time. I was extremely pleased with the performance, and it's accuracy as I learned where it was hitting. Granted I was only shooting at 21', but it is a pocket gun for close range. The moral behind my writing is please do not automatically assume that you are going to have problems with your Micro Carry. I did not and do not expect to.

I own several other 380's including an Interarms Walther PPK/S, a Keltec P3AT, and an Iver Johnson Pony, the predecessor to the Colt Pony, which eventually became the Colt Mustang. None of these performed as flawlessly as my new Kimber Micro Carry.

Thank you,
dmtrashman

Welcome from Ohio. Are those Kimber grips? Those are outstanding. And the holster is just a knockout.

Micro Carry Walnut Grips

Yes they are original Kimber SGM grips purchased off of Ebay. This is a wide selection of SGM grips available on Ebay.

Thank you for liking them!

Welcome from Northern Illinois. Great way to introduce yourself, with a tricked out rig like that. I will have to look up those grips.

Welcome and great range report and bonus pics. Beautiful gun and holster you have there. BTW, where do you hail from? I'm from rural IL on the prairie.

I have a Micro as well and love it. We are so glad to hear that you had a flawless experience. While there are a few reports of genuine problems on new Micros, I believe those stories are relatively rare and most where addressed well by Kimber. I have only been on the range with my Micro about three times and my shooting is questionable. I started out at 10' just so I could hit the target. Try more ammo types and report your experience. That is what several of us new owners are doing so as to narrow the list of what ammo works best and what ammo is to be avoided.

Welcome from Portage, Indiana
Nice range report I really like that holster.
Thinking of getting a pocket holster for my Micro Raptor.
