Red Lube on Feed Ramp?

It looks like the weather will improve in Middle TN this weekend to finally get my new Micro Carry 380 Raptor out to my range. In preparation, I followed the factory spec's on lubing the pistol and noticed that the feed ramp had a light coating of what appeared to be a red lubricant. It was a bit heavier than oil...maybe a super light grease. It was super slick to the touch. Sorry, I have no pic's as I cleaned it away before I thought about taking a pic.

Has anybody else found this substance on their Raptor's? BTW...I can tell it was test fired, but this substance seems to have been "applied" after firing.

I'll have a range report if the weather "holds" here.

I did not notice any such material as you describe on my NIB Micro. I am guessing it is just a preservative grease/oil. Mine was cleaner and did not appear to have any noticeable production oil or preservative oil. I just cleaned my new gun as usual and followed the same Kimber recommended reoiling instructions as you.

Keep us posted on your range report. I love the Raptor Micro models!

I've never found anything like that on any of my Kimbers, I'd just clean it off when you clean the gun before making that first range visit.

I was surprised to see the "material" on the ramp. Maybe the Raptors get a bit of lapping on the ramp? It didn't feel like lapping compound, but with all the "modern" chemistry available today...who knows.

BTW...I did clean the pistol and lube per usual and the red material went with the cleaning. With this being my first Kimber, I was just curious to see if anybody else had seen the same thing on their guns.

I look forward to running some rounds through it this weekend...stay tuned for the results.
