3/21/16 not so bad...

...had my care package from Kimber show up while I was in Charlotte, a nice variety of springs (thanks Kimber). I changed out the suspect firing spring before I headed out today. Did find that the new spring was smaller in diameter on one side, hadn't noticed a difference with the old one (about 1600 rounds on it) which I had reversed. The new one only fit on the pin one way unless I would have applied enough pressure to expand the small end? I installed it with the large end towards the hammer and the small opening on the cartridge end. If anyone can confirm that this is correct please chime in. Seems like less potential for anything to bind this way? In the pic the smaller spring is the old one.
...at the range everything was perfect other than my aim :-) 100 rounds of Fiocchi 95gr FMJ, flawless :-)
...paper was at 25'

I am having a slow day I had to read it twice! Now that I have read it twice I decided I liked it both times.

Oh by the way nice report. Always nice to read a Range report with no malfunctions of the firearm. The Fiocchi ammo seems to work well in .380's!

spring update, I had it wrong

I came across a youtube video reviewing the firing pin spring installation. It was using a Pro series II and showed the small end of the spring being seated on the thicker (hammer side) of the pin. I guess it IS supposed to be pressed on. As I've seen other videos the poster has done, some on this forum, and it looks like he knows what he's doing... I went ahead and reversed mine, it seemed to be in fine shape and cinched onto the firing pin nicely :-)

Finally got my new recoil spring for the wife's micro Bel Air after two calls to customer service and three weeks from the first call; haven't tried it yet, waiting for the weather to get nicer.

Good. Keep us posted on how it performs. Also, does the spring look the same as the oem one?

Same length, same number of coils but it is green. And interesting thing is it was shipped from Kalispel, MT. (CS Central)
