Range report 4/24

Actually a run to the desert to put rounds through the Micro Carry. Still running great. Did a box of Fiocchi FMJ 95gr followed by a box of Aguila FMJ 95gr and not a single malfunction. Sid nothing but shoot through 100 rounds. Actually I also fired 7 rounds of Fiocchi JHP. Ran clean all the way through.

As mentioned in the other thread about regular use with this gun, you can feel the recoil spring weakening.

Also, I have the standard model and I wish I had gotten a stainless steel version. The black finish is wearing off during cleaning and I am just using dish soap!

Nice report, Chillis. I've had the same experience with my Micro Carry...once broken in, they run like crazy.

Chillis, thanks for the range report and we are glad to hear that the gun is performing well. Good reports are just as valuable as reports of problems. Too often we don't hear about a Kimber performing well, but just reports of problems.

nice!

Good to see another Micro is running well :-)
...c'mon man, we're going to need some pics though. I'd really like to see where the finish is wearing? There is supposed to be some mating where moving parts touch but other parts of the frame should be pretty durable? I don't use water myself just solvent, CLP, dry off then a silicone cloth. If you're getting everything wet with H2O you may want to get familiar with the firing pin spring and how to change it. In my head I can see that getting rusty if you're not removing when you clean?

I blow out the firing pin and then CLP blast it.

I will get some pics up.

...are you removing the pin and then drying it or leaving it in and squirting CLP in there? My understanding is that the spring and pin should be kept dry, Kimber doesn't recommend oiling it. You can clean them and treat them with a protectant, but then dry it off. If there's oil in there it can gunk up and cause a problem.
...will be watching for the pics :-)

Won't hold the finish issues against it now that it works.

Dang!!!

...did you use Brillo with that dish soap Chillis??? It does kinda give it a rugged looking patina :-)
...like I said I'd stop using soap and water. Solvent for areas with carbon fouling, CLP should be fine for external areas, then wipe it down with a soft cloth. A silicone cloth to shine her up an the end.
...like you said, she goes BANG every time, that's the biggie :-)
