Poking some .45 inch holes in paper

Today's trip to the range wasn't all about the Kimber. It was about the HK, but I always like to bring a couple guns. Deep down inside, I'm a big bore kinda guy, so it made sense to bring out two .45's.

The HK was purchased "like new" a month ago. I converted it to an LEM trigger, but didn't like the way it came out. The next few weeks were spent making minor changes to get it the way I wanted. Finally it was perfect, so today it was time to poke some holes in paper. The gun functioned flawlessly, and it shoots very nicely.

I thought you kids might be interested in the side-by-side comparison. As you can see, the Kimber wins the beauty contest hands-down. Functionally, both are perfect. Recoil and manageability seem about the same. The HK fits the hand better, and I like the simplicity of operation. The single action Kimber is more fun to shoot, I think, and overall, the trigger feels better. The HK LEM, on the other hand, is a better combat configuration. Although I have holsters for neither, the Kimber would conceal better. In regards to accuracy, I can shoot the HK better. Fast or slow, the HK gave tighter groups. I can shoot the Kimber nicely, but my groups are bigger. This has got to be because the HK has a little big longer sight radius.

That's all I can write. Carnitas is waiting downstairs. Have a good evening, everyone.
