K frame speedloader

I bought and tried an HKS #10 speedloader for a K frame Smith. It works pretty darn good in the K6s. Just for your info guys and gals.

Interesting, the diameter of the cylinder of the K6s is much closer to the Colt D frame than the K frame Smith. 1.39, 1.40, 1.45 in that order, just fyi. (SP101 is 1.34)

The #10 hangs up a bit when attempting to remove. It catches the rubber grip and makes it a little awkward to get completely out. Bored a little, I sat down and SANDED the space between the empty shell holes and then rounded off the lead and trailing edge of the speed loader. The result, it looks like the front of the K6s cylinder. More importantly, the speedloader is MUCH easier to drop the rounds and remove the loading device.

I will post a pic later. I feel the real speedloader would be the Colt D frame one.

Modified #10

As promised, I have a pic of the HKS #10 that I modified. It seems to work a LOT better. Having said that, I cannot say with absolute certainty that it is the modification that makes it work better, or just the practice I received trying it out. I did not try to make the thing look like the K6s cylinder, it just turned out that way for ease of opration.

According to an article in the Brian Enos Forum the HKS DS-A (for D-frame Colts) works well in a K6s. Esp. with a little gentle sanding on the front of the loader.
