I finally bought a Kimber (mostly because they came out with a revolver)
I am a long time Smith revolver shooter, but was introduced to the K6s at the shot show. They finally got them in at LGS so I waited my 10 days and picked one up on Monday. The finish, and attention to detail is excellent. The trigger is probably better than most of my DAO smiths, but gives me the extra round. I took it to the range today and...nothing. Wouldn't fire a single round. I tried different ammo, still nothing. I really like the gun, but doubt I will have confidence in it. I have at least half a dozen smith revolvers and have never had a single jam or fail to fire. Ever...and I shoot a lot. Semi autos sure, there are the occasional problems, but never on a revolver.
Has this happened to anyone else? Not a mark on the primers. Cylinder rotates, everything sounds normal, but no bang. Any ideas?
I took a video if that helps.

Someone forget to put in the firing pin? Just sayin. See if you can pull the trigger and stage it after the cylinder rotates and drop a pencil in there and fire. It should fly out. ( start with empty revolver of course). Definitely sounds like a missing or broke pin.

Welcome from WVa

I agree ...it sounds like a broken firing pin. I have a K6, but haven't had it long. I haven't had any firing issues so far. Since your gun seems fine other wise, no strange sounds or lock ups...the pin could have broken during factory testing and wasn't noticed. I haven't tried to look inside the K6 yet, so I have no idea how to fix a firing pin. Call Kimber.

That is what I thought as well. Since it has a recessed chamber you can't see if the pin is dropping. It has powder in each chamber indicating it was fired at least 6 times in the factory. Do they ever remove the firing pin for a recall or a check after that?

I have heard of firing pins breaking before, it has just never happened to me.

I did dry fire it several times before taking it to the range. Is it possible that did it? I know older Guns could have the pins damaged by dry firing. Excepting my rim fire guns, seems like all of my modern guns have been fine with years of dry firing in between shooting.

It does not push a pencil forward when firing, nor does it make a mark on a snap cap with a piece of blue tape on the end.

As long as you can hear the hammer function it can only be two things. Transfer safety bar or firing pin.

^What he said.

Can you push the firing pin with a tiny tool?

That's hilarious. Looks like Hillary got her way on this one. I think you're right. I am sending it back. I am guessing if I try to do it myself I won't be able to get the part I need. They guy at the store said it can take a couple of months to get it back. It's like a 70 day waiting period to get this gun. It better come back from the factory better than new. Who knows, maybe they will mess up and send it back with the laser grips I can't find for sale anywhere!
