Grips!

Does anyone know who makes the wooden grips for the 3" k6s? I found altamont to be a bit expensive and was about to order them straight from Kimber but figured I'd ask if you guys got any suggestions.

I would give Raasco Grips a call, they don’t list them on their website but maybe he can make them or if enough people show interest he may start making them. He makes nice grips for a reasonable price.

Grips are HIGHLY personal, but I just got my new wooden, full length jobs for my little DC this week, and they are great. Fit to the gun and to each other is superb, and the gun handles for ME far better than the little G10ís that came on it.

Those look great! If you have any tips on getting the rubber grips off, I'm all ears. I can't get them to budge.

Mine were G10’s, but they were very tight too. (Good fit)
Normally you’d just back the screw out enough to tap on it and shake the opposite grip loose. I didn’t have quite enough screw for that, so I took the screw out, put a flat tipped punch in, and tap the opposite grip loose. Try to angle the punch just a little so you don’t damage the threads on the grip that you are removing. It’ll come right off, but they ARE tight!

Laughing at myself and commending Kimber. The fit, particularly the seam on the grips, is so good that I thought it was a 1-piece grip, and I was trying to tug it off like the Hogue grip on a Redhawk.

Your post gave me the hint that there might actually be 2 pieces and it popped right off.

Thanks for the help.
