K6s three dot sights - dot material?

I have a set of Kimberís replacement fiber optic sights coming for my new K6s, but I have a question about the OEM three dots. (My gun isnít here yet so I canít check for myself.)

The main reason I ordered the new sights was for the plain rear. Iím not generally a fan of fiber optic sights, so Iíd like to look into changing the dot color of the existing front sight to a high viz orange instead of white. Iíve found an orange front and plain rear combination to work best for me on my other guns.

My question - has anyone noticed whether the white dots are painted or if they are plastic plugs like some makers use?

They look like they are "cupped" or "hollowed out" like most of their white dot sites on the 1911's.

Mine look cupped also. Painting them should not be a real problem. Dip a toothpick in the color or your choice should work fine.

So, by “cupped” you’re both thinking they are painted dots, and not drilled through and filled with white plastic rod? You sometimes see that when a manufacturer uses the same sight body for three dots and night sights.

My K6s is finally home, and I’m almost certain the dots are paint filled instead of plastic rods. I’ll look closer under magnification to be sure, but I think it’s fluorescent paint fill time.

Speaking of reading material

I was just looking at the DOJ approved gun list and noticed the K6 3" made the list. I think I might like to have one. Now all I need is money.
