New k6s dc grease

Just picked up a new k6s dc. I pulled the grips because I like to make sure nothing weird is going on, and noticed the internals (from what I could see) were pretty heavy with grease. So I popped the sideplate and sure enough, the internals where very heavy with a clearish white grease everywhere. I've had a lot of s&w and a couple other k6s's and none have had grease or at least this much grease in them.

Has anyone seem their k6s with grease on the internals. Most s&w's come almost dry and when I clean them most parts are lightly oiled and then wiped dry. Revolvers don't need much oil at all. One of my others had a slight bit of oil in it and I cleaned it and little to no oiled it, and the trigger is as smooth or smoother than before, so no detriment there.

Just curious.

Mine did not come filled with grease. I've never seen that with a revolver before.

Me neither. That's why I thought I might ask here.

I'd be curious as to what Kimber would say about it.

Other than the grease, how do you like the gun? I haven't come across a K6 DC locally. They seem to be in short supply.

Haven't asked Kimber. Didn't want to tell them I was inside the revolver. I did pull it all apart and thoroughly clean everything out.

The gun is fantastic. I have an early k6s in stainless and blue grips and this one basically shoots the same but I like the sights on the dc much better. The finish is top notch. They are a little hard to find. They should be plentiful here before long.

Right on, Scout.

For my guns, generally I like Lubriplate SFL-0, a very light viscosity aluminum based grease that is white in color.

Hello all: I just bought a K6s stainless with white 3 dot sights this weekend. Haven't fired it yet but plan to go to the range this week. It's my first revolver and feels great in my hands. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it rides in a pocket holster. I don't plan to use .357 self defense ammo so any thoughts on .38 would be appreciated.

Hello. Do you mean for range use or possible defensive use?
