k6s dc coating coming off forcing cone

Just a question for anyone who has one of these or similar gun. Have shot about 250 rounds through it now. Some 357, some 38+p some 38's. Noticed cleaning it today that the coating is coming off the forcing cone between 6 and 8 o'clock position. No big deal, but wondering if this is normal and if it might get worse. This really is a nice shooting revolver. This is one reason I've always been leary of coatings.

I'd suggest giving Kimbers customer service a call and see what they say about it.

I think your the first person to say the DC finish is coming off your gun around here. I was hoping the DC finish would resolve Kimber’s finish issues.

If you are comfortable, please let us know what Kimber has to say about this.

The DC finish is supposed to be the best thing going in gun finishes. Looks good too.

I've had my eye out for a K6s DC for a while now. This thread is giving something to think about.

I have no problem calling them. I will let you know what they say when I call Monday. It's off about a quarter of the way around the vertical part of the forcing cone. I had shot lead last and was hoping it was lead.

Just to keep an update, I sent a picture in and they want me to send in the gun for them to look at. Won't be able to send it in until Monday but I'll keep you updated when I get it back.

Talked to kimber yesterday. They're sending the revolver back to me. They said their gunsmiths looked at the revolver and said the coating coming off on the forcing cone is normal? One of the main reasons I've always stayed away from coated guns. They seem to be more trouble than they're worth. I guess if it continues to get worse, I'll send it back again. We'll see as time goes on, how much worse it gets, if it even does. Guess we'll also see if others are having this issue as more of these get out there.

This is the one I sent them and the best I could get with a phone camera. I hope I did it right.
