Looking for a 357.

I love my two Kimbers. I have tripped over both of them though as there is no dealer around here. So..... I have put rounds through several wheel guns over the years. My old S&W model 10 is a good shooter. I am very interested in another Kimber in the house and would like a 3Ē barrel with a hammer so I can run DA/SA. Wont be a carry piece so the snag is not an issue.
What is the general consensus on the Kimbers? Itís a revolver so issues are few and far between.
Thoughts?
Guidance?
Shooting one is not really an option since I donít know anyone with one and nobody around here stocks one.
Thanks.

Your correct, logical thinking would be revolver = no issues. But the fact is the K6S revolver line has had some issues, I would label them isolated but you know we always here about the problems. Regardless the 3" K6 should make a fine shooter.
If you are in a rural area I would suggest shopping online GunBroker would be my first choice but there are some other good online sellers that sometimes has better prices on certain guns.
Someone asked about when the 3" K6 DA/SA would be available the other day. I have not looked in a few days but I didn't find any on GunBroker yet. I would guess when they do show up that for awhile the price will be up around MSRP or maybe above at some sellers, so shopping around may be needed.
If you are against online buying I suggest driving to a big box store, Bass Pro, Cabalas, Fin & Feather, etc. seems like sometimes those stores get first shipments.

On the other hand, I love the old pre-lock Smith & Wesson's and you can't go wrong with a snub nose Model 19, 686, etc.

If you are looking for a .357 range gun … let me recommend the S&W 686 from the "3-5-7" Special Editions. I'm a big fan of the .38-.357 and have owned a couple of dozen over the years. My new 5" 686 is the finest version, out the box revolver I've ever seen. Smooth as butter and extremely accurate. Fantastic trigger, great sights and beautiful looks with the L-frame barrel and unfluted cylinder. I did change the front sight from the red ramp to a Dawson FO.

I does come in a 3" but the 5" sight radius will make for a much better range gun. And I did own a 2" K6s … I don't own it any longer... but that's another story.

I agree, if your not looking to carry it and its only for home or range use a nice 686 or the Ruger Match Champion are better choices.
Second one down on right is the Match Champion.

Thanks. I got the opportunity to run a box of ammo through a S&W 636 yesterday. It was the 8 round performance center model. I may test drive a Ruger before any purchase but the S&W was very nice indeed.

My 3" S&W Model 60 Pro. It is a handy 357 Magnum.
