K6s 2" will not fire

AAAAArrrgghhhhh!

Went out to shoot my K6S today. Still trying to find which 38 ammo I want to carry it with.

Well, does not look as if I will trust this weapon as a anything more than a range gun.....after I get it fixed.

Never fired a shot, Pull the trigger and nothing. pulled the trigger again and nothing. I had wadcutters in it so figured it might be the ammo.

Nope, tried Critical Duty 110 gr FTX and same results. Probably a broken firing pin....after approximately 350 rounds of mostly 38 special since December 9, 2018. And I have used snap caps for all dry firing exercises.

I have the packing slip and instructions and will ship to Kimber to get fixed.

After that I will sell it cheap and get another gun, Will not trust it and with its cost it is too expensive for just a range gun and safe queenand is useless as a defensive gun. I will salvage what I can.

Looks like the 2.5 inch S&W 686 plus or 2.6" 625 are back in my future

My wife stole my SW 360 PD and she uses Hornady Critical Defense in the .38 SPL 110 bullet weight.

That model is made from mostly scandium, and if she ran a .357 Magnum load through that revolver it would probably end her life of firearms.

I carry that model in all my firearms. My Kimber 3-inch .45 ACP uses that Hornady bullet. So does my SIG P238, and the SW Airweight DAO.

What did the primers look like after attempting to fire? Light strike? No strike?

Have you tried the pencil test yet? Can you pull the trigger while slowly lowering the hammer to see if the firing pin can be seen coming through the recoil shield?

Have you checked to see if it has a firing pin, a broken one?

I already have the gun in the original box and wrapped and an UPS label.

Will take it to the UPS drop off tomorrow.

I have shot all of the ammo I tried and was going to try in the K6s previously.

The wadcutters and the Critical Duty 110 gr FTX that I tried today looked like the primers had not even been touched.

I will let Kimber figure it out and go from there.

No way I will ever carry the gun....I would not trust it. Especially since it did not even make it to my personal 500 round break in period before I will carry any gun. I have 21 handguns and all of them have been fired 500 times before carrying.

Well at least my S&W 686 Plus 3" made its 500 round today.

Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm, don'tcatchmany that is a sad testimony, even worse not the first time I've heard the same problem. Good news is Kimber will correct it, bad news can it be trusted to protect you life afterwards, who knows, doubtful, I don't think I could.

I have several S&W vintage revolvers ranging in age from 20 to over 50 years old none have ever misfired like your K6. I tried to like the K6, liked the looks, didn't like the way it felt in my hand plus the stories of function issues didn't help any either.

Did you call Kimber customer service and get a RMA label? If not you will want to do that before returning it.

Maybe it’s just me, but I like proven designs, not newcomers in a carry gun. No K6 in my future.

I loved the look and the fit and finish. Found one at my LGS. Story was a young lady bought it new with a box of Fed 125 JHP, .357 mags, shot it 12 times. I bought it with the rest of the rounds thrown in. I took it to the range six times, shooting about 350 rds of .38 and .357. No issues with the function. Changed out the grips for some Altamont's.

I found it to be a heavy, bulky .38 that I knew I would never carry .. or a too short sighted, bad trigger for a range gun. Destine to be a safe queen. I paid $680.00 for it and traded it at a gun show for an $1100.00 Sig TACOPS 1911 and never looked back.

I would like to see the new SA/DA with a 5" barrel and adjustable sights Ö that would be more appealing to me.

Paul, I went the cheap route.

There is a very good need for a revolver, even if you are an automatic pistol fan. I my case, I "bought" the stainless SW 642 from my wife, as she wanted my 360PD more.

As most of you guys know (and laugh), I leave two pairs of jeans with all of the survival items already laced onto the pockets and belt loops. My crappiest pair of jeans has the 642 on a right kidney thumb-break. If I need to get somewhere that's a bit spooky (like get my wife because her truck died in the dark at the mall), everything is prepared.
