Regardless, I use mine as a portable hole puncher and could care less as to the finish.

Never had a finish prob with mine except for scratches on occasion.

I have a hard chromed 1911 as well and it's awesome. Like glimmering shiny stainless steel and no issues whatsoever with the finish.

I have seen Polished SS Guns mis Identified as Nickel for years on GB. I doubt that Kimber Nickled it, in fact I have never heard of Kimber making any Nickle finished Gun.

Yes I have a k6s that is polished to a mirror finish. Took forever but it turned out great. By the way, the 1st edition model has the same polished finish that the DCR model has. Its not quite mirror but its a "satin stainless" finish. The only difference from DCR and 1st edition is the serial number, sights, and display case! P.S. as a fabricator for many years I can tell you that most all "stainless" will oxidize and will attract a magnet. It's got iron it, and a minimum of 11% chromium, and other metals in the alloy. There are some expensive metals used for knives and things that have less iron, usually consists of chromium, vanadium, boron, zinc, and other "fancy" metals. Im sure I'll be corrected, but this is my attempt at a short explanation.
