kimber montana

Hi there ,
New to this forum, and don't own a kimber yet but it is about to change. going to get a kimber montana in 30-06 as soon as one shows up at my dealer.
was thinking of the 300wsm first but use a 30-06 now in a sako and don't feel at all under gunned for moose here in newfoundland. I think the 300 wsm is more recoil that i need in such a light rifle. how much difference would felt recoil be from the 30-06 to the 300wsm?
i also have a sako deluxe in 338 wm recoil is not bad but the ten lb rifle sure is heavy after a day walking our bogs and hills.
one other thing , is it possible to put an hinged floor plate on the montana?
regards

Welcome to the forum from Tenn. Good luck with the new Kimber. I have a Thompson Center 300wsm and it is enough recoil that in my old age, I generally reach for my .270 for my hunting needs, however I don't hunt moose.

Are you sure the floorplate isn't hinged?

Welcome to the site from Tennessee. Have no knowledge of Kimber rifles other than the model I want to buy some day.

As far as recoil goes, I have a Montana in 30/06 and my son has a Tikka in 300WSM with a limb saver pad. My Montana is under 6.5 lbs scoped, and his Tikka is 7.25 lbs. I would much rather shoot my Montana.
