84L distance between scope bases

I'm trying to decide between the 8400wsm in 270 vs 84L in 270 win or 280ai. Main reason being the 1/2 pound weight difference. Somewhere sometime I got the info that the distance between the center of the rear base screws and the center of the front base screws is 4.3710 on the 8400wsm. This makes it very close in mounting my favorite scope, 2.5-8 with 5.1" tube. I'm also looking at vx-6 2-12 which has 5.6 space or the 3.5-10x40 which would be easy with 5.8" space. Query is, the 84L action is so much longer than the 8400wsm, I'm concerned that it will be difficult to mount a scope. Asked Kimber customer service what the distance is between the front/rear mount locations, and they 'don't have access to that information'. duh. Like, walk down the hall and measure one in the front display case, maybe? So, can anybody out there with an 84L measure the distance between the center of the front screws to the center of the rear screws? pics are great too. I want to use S&K mounts, which have one mount centered on the receiver holes, and the other mount offset 1/4" either way (reversible). Not much offset to work with. Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the site from Tennessee. Not a rifle guy so don't have a clue about your scope question.

I don't have my 84L in front of me, but I mounted a VX2 3-9X40 in Talley low mounts. Plenty of room.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois ShenMan. I'm sorry I'm also not a Kimber rifle owner.

Customer service may not have access to any guns, they are located in Kalispell, MT and the factory is in Yonkers NY.
