Kimber SubAlpine Muzzle Brake

Hello, new to forum. Purchased Kimber subalpine in .280 AI. After going to the range this gun puts a hurt on the shoulder. It has threaded barrel for muzzle brake, yet I cannot seem to find where I can purchase one with matching thread size and count. I know the argument that one shot wont matter, I will be using this deer hunting where the bag limit is 5 deer and I have experienced taking multiple shots as this is a walk around hunt or shoot from a boat. on a side not, the three position safety doesn't seem to want to catch in the middle position going from "safe" to "fire", is that unusual or is this part of the design.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. You have a fine rifle in a good chambering. What you are experiencing with recoil is one reason I moved away from standard length cartridges - at least for now. I am an older guy and shoot a lot, and I was not enjoying 30-06 level recoil. A strap-on recoil pad can help. You probably know this, but a muzzle brake creates more noise for you and others near you on a range. Kimber should be able to direct you to a source for a brake if you really want one. I have two Kimber Hunters. The three safety stops on one were positive right out of the box, the stops are improving on the other with lubrication and use but are still not all that I hoped they would be.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois Tundra14. Your best bet would be to contact Kimbers customer service and ask them if they could suggest a muzzle brake to fit your gun.

I believe the barrel is threaded for a suppressor, another option would be to have the barrel ported.

How about stopping by our "New Member Introduction" sub forum and introducing yourself to the membership?

Welcome to the site from Tennessee.

I agree with Chuck, I also think it is threaded for a suppressor, which I feel would be a great addition while hunting big game. However I don't own a Kimber rifle so what do I know.
