Montana 30.06 Scope

I just had a Vortex 4-16x50mm mounted to my 30.06. I can pass 1 sheet of paper and a Dollar bill between the scope and barrel but that is it. Will this be ok?
I'm not sure how to load pics here but you can see pics in my tools album.

That's fine. As long as it is not touching and you can get a sight window fast without doing something strange with your head or neck, then you are good.

Vortex makes a nice scope. And that's a lot of scope for a 30-06.

My M70 in 300Mag with a Vortex 4-16x44. Wanna make sure you can still use your scope caps.

Just saw the picture in the tools section. Man that's a big scope.

Yes it is. Setup is weighing in right at 7lbs. Bikini caps are still usable though the front (bell) does touch barrel.

Slight but of little concern with a hunting rifle, is barrel whip. Any remaining whip would be extremely small near the breach, especially on a 30-06. 7lbs, wow. My Mark V 30-378, a 1000 yard rifle doesn't have that much scope. What do you hunt with that? Or plan to hunt?

Winchester does it right with bolt action rifles. Bought it from a good ole'boy out of the back of a pick-up in Butte several years ago. It was a steal of a deal.

And long range target shooting. Whip is one of my concerns.
