It is a cool looking rifle but I don’t shoot rifles enough to justify that kind of price tag. I would also have to have it in all black.

If You Insist

I don't like it and would never buy one for any price. I don't like the plastic stock, I'm to old school, stocks should be wood. I really don't get to shoot the rifles I already own to justify owning them.

Oh, I don't know. I've been reading a lot of survival magazines and gun magazines. All of them have this new breed of custom "brown and black" to them, and they come full-auto, semi-auto and bolt action.

I think we're the fogies. I think the rifle is as fresh as today's morning newspaper.

Way more than I need... I'd have fun shooting it don't get me wrong, I can't see myself dropping that kind of $$$$.$$
I'm surprised there's not a semi-auto, we'll see what we see next year?

I think it's really the new rendition of the Cooper Scout Rifle. And usually a bolt action is more accurate than an automatic.

Now granted, I dumped way too much money into a flat top AR-15 with a Shilen barrel that outshot everything. Of course, it only did so with ammunition I handloaded for benchrest.

But for the most part, a bolt action is the superior performer.

Stock is advertised as aluminum, not plastic.

With the 16in threaded barrel, Kimber is chasing the suppressed sniper market. Remington started selling 16in threaded barrel .308 bolt action rifles years ago. Generally, folks get a decent stock, trigger and scope base for them. Kimber has simply included it, along with appears to be quite a barrel guaranteed sub .5MOA.

$2,400 for the Kimber isn't out of line. Street price will be closer to $2k. In comparison, buy an inexpensive Reminton SPS Tactical for $600. Something like a Magpul Pro stock is another $1,000. Quality scope base for the reciever $150. Decent trigger $150.... do the math. And we haven't even begun to discuss the expensive stuff like an optic and suppressor.

Just my 2 cents. I wouldnít buy the Kimbers. Not that there is anything wrong with them but....
If I was going to get really involved in LD shooting, Iíd have a custom rifle built for just a few more pennies. There are plenty of great and reasonable custom precision rifle builders out there.
They will shoot way low sub moa.

Ok... let us know how she shoots.
Now that you told me you have an RPR, you have a great shooter. Quite a few folk took that rifle and upgraded it to better barrels and trigger systems and spent a lot less that $2400.

Iím very happy with my RPR 6.5cm... that bugger is a great straight shooter right out of the box. Ruger kicked butt with that one.
What more could you need.

Good luck with it....
