Scope rings?

So my wife bought me an 84L Hunter in 270 for Christmas. Im looking at putting a Leupold VX-3i 3.5x10 40mm CDS on it with Talley rings. My question is will I need low or med size rings? Thanks

Depending on the size of the front "bell" end of the scope, if you have room, the rule of thumb is to always try to get the scope as close to the center of the bore as possible. Sometimes you can use the "low" sometimes you can't. Lot's of variables between the scope/bases/rifle.

SDhunt: Congrats on your new Kimber rifle! Great wife!

Every one of my rifles wears a Leupold, and all their 40mm objective scopes can use "Low" rings, even on HB rifles.

All my varmint rifles wear Leupold VX3 40mm 6.5-20X LR scopes. Here's an example of one on my Cooper M38 Phoenix in 221FB wearing Leupold "Low" rings:

As has been mentioned, getting the scope as close to the axis of the bore as possible is best, and this setup gets the job done with plenty of bell to barrel clearance.

On my 84L Classic I'm running Talley Lows with a 3-9X40. Plenty of bell clearance. Great setup too.
You are going to love that Kimber. How about some photo'

Hi. I would recommend looking at the sight UTG 3-9X32 1 BugBuster such a model is used by my friend and he is very pleased. The main thing is that the weight of the sight is small, and the characteristics are powerful. Comes with removable rings. You can also buy extra or spare rings and It is easily mounted on various guns.
