Smile FINALLY got to shoot her!

My new Kimber Hunter 84M in 6.5 Creedmoor
Can't get any photo(s) to post.

My new knee is getting better, so I finally got to the range the other day to see how this gal shoots.

I had the following factory ammunition on hand to try that day:
140gr Match ELD-M (used to break-in the barrel)
129gr American Whitetail InterLocks (used to break-in the barrel)
143gr Precision Hunter ELD-X, and
129gr Hornady Superformance SST

Broke the barrel in by cleaning after every 4th shot using the ammunition mentioned above. Hurried because rain was in the forecast.

After that I was able to get ONE 3-shot group to measure (before the rain did let loose on us).

Using the 129gr SST ammunition, the rifle grouped 1st two @ .528". The 3rd shot opened the group up to .835". After reading other posts in the forum, this seems to be the 'norm'. Two close, then the 3rd off at the two o'clock position. My 3rd shot actually hit at the ten o-clock position though.

So... it'll take another trip to the range (can't get enough range-time in anyway, IMHO) to get her 'dialed-in' and see what ammunition she likes best. Got to admit it though - I'm really liking this rifle!

Now if it'll only stop raining!

What distance was your target? 100 yards?

Sounds like you had a good 1st trip, with some good groups. Keep us up to date as you progress, and we would definitely like to see some photos.

Celebrated 50 years of marriage this last March. I have to 'toe-the-line' there men... she owns a .32 Special and knows how to shoot! I'm not really worried though... mine is a .40S&W

I was shooting at probably 25 yards (walked off by pacing), hoping to take it out to close to 100 by days end. Rain prevented that. I was at my Amish friends farm, shooting on an old rickety tripod with a wobbly 'V' rest (so I was pretty happy with the results).

My cousin said after I get the rifle shooting pretty good to let him know. He's invited me down to his place to shoot on a professionally measured range (he shoots 1000yd matches competitively).

I have a couple of Caldwell shooting bags, but I need to get a sling-swivel mounted bipod before I go down he said.

Anybody have a suggestion on what brand or type of bipod I should look at to purchase? Input welcomed...
