GunBroker Seller and UPS Mistake

I will try to relate the shorter version of this story. The subject is a Kimber of America Stainless Fluted Barrel 82 .22lr. One person and one huge company to blame for what happened.
I had been searching for a Kimber 22lr and I wanted the wood stock, stainless barrel version. I had found only three or four during the last year or longer searches. Seller was a veteran GunBroker user. He shipped the rifle without removing the bolt, wrapped in a single layer of bubblewrap in a box that was way to big. His auction page said it was on me to purchase insurance (Gunbroker policy says it's on the seller) I didn't pay for insurance cause never had a problem before. Rifle arrived at my FFL on April 12, 2019 by UPS, delivery guy left Karin had time to unpack it. She called me when she found the bolt broken clean OFF. I didn't accept it and we both started calling people. I called the seller, he pretty much told me pound sand, I didn't buy insurance and he was not paying for any damage that UPS did.
We both called and emailed GunBroker neither of us ever got a response from them. Karin called UPS many, many times was promised that an inspector would come inspect package. No person ever came to her Pawn Shop to inspect. They claimed they did a phone interview, what a bunch of BS. She went above and beyond trying to help me. I gave up on UPS, picked the rifle up today.
I already found (recommended by Kimber) the guy to call. He said box it up, insure for 200 bucks and send it to him he will repair if he can. He'll let me know.

I guess that's it.

I'll post some pics of it here later.

I'm over being butt hurt about the whole ordeal. I can't help but wonder "IF" the experience would have been different (more help from UPS) if I had of purchased insurance.
Pic of it on box is after I got it home, other is from April 12 the day it was unpacked.

Damn I hate paying for insurance. I do but I'm not happy about it. Adding in shipping, taxes and FFL fees quickly your $500.00 bargain is $600.00+. I've ordered three nice guns ($$$) from Bud's and I have always paid the insurance. I've received too many roughed up non-gun boxes to chance it.

Not for nothing but the seller is an asshole and I'd haunt him forever just out of principle. His shabby packaging caused the issue. Every time I receive a package that looks remotely like a problem, I take pictures and if there is internal damage, photograph that too. Just can't trust people these days.

It's always scary as a shipper because you never know what perils await the shipped item until you hear from the buyer.

In the last 30 days I've shipped all kinds of drum gear and some is fragile. Most likely the most expensive stuff, too.

Yeah, I took a bunch of pictures of box, packaging, rifle, bolt. No at fault party cared or even tried to help or do the right thing.

Sure is a good looking rifle. I hope you get it back better than ever!

You don't happen to need a (well reviewed) 22 scope for it do you? hmmm???

What a bummer! That damage plainly sucks. No other way to say it. I hope everything works out OK in the end.
