Welcome to the forum Rando8586, I don't own a Mountain Ascent but other then the front and rear take down screws there shouldn't be anything else holding it in.

How about stopping by our "New Member Introduction" sub forum and introducing yourself to the membership.

Randall, welcome to the site from Tennessee.

Why or should I say never heard of anyone completely disassembling a new rifle to clean it?

Nothing in the manual about disassembly?

OK. Why not just clean and lube the bolt and inspect and clean/lube bore then shoot it.
Not trying to be difficult just wondering. Do you do this with all new to you used rifles?

Have you checked YouTube for any video's that could help you?

With all the stock screws removed, put the rifle upside down in a well-padded vise. With the stock firmly held, but not enough to crush it against the action, take a rubber or wooden mallet and gently tap the barrel just ahead of the forearm.

It probably is a bit stuck from stock bedding material, and a few light taps should free it up right away where you can use the barrel to wiggle it free from the stock.

No big deal, done it many times over the years.
