Void in Montana stock

I took the action out of my new Montana stock and noticed a hole in the trigger inlet. I touched it and it was so soft that light finger pressure splintered away a thin veneer of composite revealing a large void. See picture. I haven't contacted Kimber yet but was curious if anyone has seen this problem before. I'd really like a new stock and not just have them slap some bondo in there. I was really digging this rifle but this has put a sour taste in my mouth.

First welcome to the forum. I don't have first hand experience with your problem, but I can tell you that Kimber will make it right.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois Jason, did you purchase the gun locally? If so I'd try taking the gun back to the dealer and showing him, he might be able to get this resolved easier and faster then going through his Kimber rep. then customer service.

Thanks. Unfortunately I bought it from gunbroker but it was new in the box. So, I'll be testing out Kimber customer service on Monday. Thanks.

i don't see that it was bedded at all. Just pillars? No glass or other bedding compound?

I don't see any either but I thought they mold the stock to a slave action so the "bedding" isn't done with compound, just the shape of the stock. But, I don't really know.

Kimber customer service seems great so far. They are taking care of me with return shipping labels and everything.
