Ordered Hunter in .243 Win

I normally do NOT buy a first-year product, but made an exception this time. I pre-ordered a new Kimber Hunter rifle in .243 Win today. My LSG is a Master Kimber dealer so I asked them to call for expected ship dates. No surprise...Kimber said they will ship in May and their Master Dealers get the first ones. Now, that gives me some extra time to pick out my new scope...life is good!

Today I received an update from Kimber that my Hunter rifle is going to ship in September. I was hoping to see it before that, but at least I know when to expect it to arrive.

That is typical of Kimber, they never meet their new product delivery dates. The Micro 9 is suppose to be out in May but if we see it by late fall we'll be lucky.

I'm not surprised either, Chuck. I just hope it will be a good one.

Funny!...(not really)...I just received another notice this morning from Kimber that my .243 Hunter rifle won't ship until Mid-October. I'm hoping there are no more updates like this. I assume that they are running various calibers at different times with the more popular ones running first...and that isn't the .243's.

Well...it's been 6 months since my last update, so thought I'd add what I learned while visiting my LGS to order a new Remington 870 Tactical shotgun. My Kimber Hunter order is still "active" and my dealer said they are still waiting on their order that included my "Hunter". I told them that I see some dealers are receiving the Hunter in the .243 cal. I ordered and hoped to see mine soon. The owner told me that Kimber ships to their Master Dealers that have place a bulk order when all the order is ready complete. Sounds a bit ridiculous for Kimber to fill orders that way, but who knows? Anyway, as others (Chuck) have indicated here...never expect Kimber to meet delivery dates. BTW...rifles were flying off the racks today...especially in Deer calibers, and I did notice they had plenty of AR's and M4 ready to go. I could almost smell "panic" in the air...

I was at my LGS today for their customer appreciation event and the owner told me my Hunter order was put on hold by Kimber! Not sure why, but decided to cancel the order and look elsewhere for a .243 Win. Too bad I already have new Talley's ready to go! Too bad, I was hoping this new rifle would work out for me.

I would go directly to GunBroker, surely some business in America already has a Hunter in stock with your name on it!

Just looked there are 10 active auctions for the rifle you desire. May be cheaper than what you was going to pay?

Thanks for your encouragement, guys, but I'm moving on. I suspect that Kimber put a hold on the gun to address some kind of issue which is fine with me. I don't want to be their quality control check point on a new model as shipping rifles back to a repair facility is a pain. I'll give the Hunter another look after they have a little history behind them. In the meantime, I'll stick with their pistols.
