New Member - New Solo

Hi all, I am a new member and have a new solo. Also have a new micro 9 Crimson. Today was my first time out with the solo period it was clean and wet! Fired 4 magazines of Magtech 115 grain FMJ RN through it and 4 magazines of federal 124 grain HST through it, zero malfunctions! Felt good. It's breaking is done, I'm not going to fire 200 rounds or so through it. I am going to carry it period I know this may bring some comments, but Kimber suggest 24 rounds, so 48 rounds must be enough, right, haha!! I have looked for a while and have enjoyed the discussion and conversations.

Nice report! Which Solo did you buy? How about a picture or three? I recently bought a Solo STS. Have not been to the range with mine yet.

Kimber Micro's ( Solo, Micro .380 and Micro 9 ) can be a little finicky so proper care and handling of them is probably more important than on the larger guns.
48 trouble free rounds is a good start, but I would strongly suggest you use only the tried and true round in it for you carry. I assume that would be the Federal 124grn HST.
How many rounds are a safe trial for carry?
You've gone with 24 rounds of your carry ammo with a somewhat backup of 24 rounds of range ammo.
If you feel comfortable with that and are willing to bet your life on that, it's your choice to make.
Odds are certainly in your favor thus far and no one knows when or if a failure will happen.
Just because someone has fired hundreds of rounds through a gun does not mean it will not fail the next time out, it only puts better odds in place that the gun will perform when needed.
Enjoy your Solo and Micro 9.

Welcome to KT from St Louis and congrats on the new guns...

I had close to 150 rounds through my first Solo and thought all was good at that round count. Shortly after it failed and then continued to fail and I had to send it back to Yonkers for a tune-up. Just keep that in the back of your mind.

Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome guys! And also, thanks for the caveats. I will certainly continue to fire many rounds through this pistol for a good while.
