Last round lockback....only on half of my mags

Only half of my magazines are locking the slide back after the last round. They all USED to do it. Weak springs in the magazines? Worn slide stop lever?

The area of the slide stop that engages the slide looks like it might be worn.
You can see the shiny area.

The slide stop spring seems to have plenty of 'spring' in it.

I have been having a similar lock-back problem, Charlier - still don't have it resolved - but you might want to check out my thread for some more ideas that have been suggested:

Don't know that the Micro is the same as the Solo in that respect, but I called Kimber earlier today, and they are sending me a new slide stop. My spring is seated well, and seems to have enough spring to it. My pictures weren't too good (hard to get the iPhone to focus that close), but it may well be worn down just enough not to engage. When the part gets here, we will see.

So the new slide stop didn't cure your problem?

I just called Kimber this morning, so I won't get the new slide stop for a few days. I'll post the results after I try it at the range.

when is the last time you cleaned that thing? what are you lubing with? Have you ever taken your mags apart and cleaned them? Sometimes work, sometimes not... Sounds to me like it's not the gun's fault.

Clean it after each use. Normally use Hoppes needle oiler to lube. I usually clean the mags twice a year (don't shoot the Solo that often). The followers don't seem to bind in any of the mags.

is it consistent, X mag locks but Y mag does not? Or do they all sometimes work/not? IF it's the same one every time, there has to be something.... I would tear the mags apart and swap the followers, then maybe the springs, till I figured out which part was faulty... then I would inspect them till I figured out what the difference was.

bought 2 factory 6 round magazines for solo, they both would only sometimes lock back after last round. original 6 round magazine worked without fail.
used my weak thumb to press upwards on bottom of magazines while shooting single shots, both worked without fail. asked kimber for replacement, they sent me 2 8 round magazines, they both worked correctly.
the 6 rounders were flawed, maybe the cut in notches for the magazine release were out of specs.
