discontinued solo

my solo S116043x birthday was ~10-14-2014.
purchased 12-5-2016 from academy; has about 700 rounds through it and refurbished twice by yonkers.
the pistol has been discontinued by kimber.
will this pistol ever be a item to collect ?
should i just shoot it for practice and edc or make the solo a safe queen and preserve.
approximately how many solo's were made ?

Definitely a collectors item.

I'm valuing this at $1,700.00. Might let it go for $1,500 to a collector who can truly appreciate it. Buck not included.

I think you should auction it off here on KT Phil. You might get twice that much for it.

will this pistol ever be a item to collect ?----Short answer--NO

should i just shoot it for practice and edc---Yes & that's your choice.

approximately how many solo's were made---Some would say too many & some would say just enough.

PS...If your Solo functions to your approval and goes "bang" when you pull the trigger each and every time then enjoy it to it's fullest.

It may not be a collectible, but it will always hold the title of "Most talked about Kimber in their history"....and that's just here on KT...

They probably won't be a collectable for most, but if you have one that shoots that's a plus. I have 3 and all are reliable. There great looking and easy to conceal but seems most had bad luck with them. I also have a rohrbaugh r9s that is smaller and easy to conceal.

Collectable is rather subjective ... everything is collectable to somebody. Pet rocks to GI Joes. Some people collect Corvette's, others Edsel's. Some guys collected revolvers others shotguns. Value is another question...and value like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some of us old dudes can remember when you get a nice Colt Python for $350.00. If we only knew then what we know now ....as for Solo's ...we'll see.

GunBroker has a great collection of Solos starting at $469. They maybe collectible long after we are all gone.

Rare examples of Solo will bring the most bucks from collectors. My Solo, having successfully made it through a box of ammo but never been Yonkered will be a true collectors item. Maybe one day a candidate for the Smithsonian Gun Room.

All yours for the low low price of $1,700 today... an heirloom your decendants can cherish for eternity.
