Solo wear: Maybe a good thing

As some of you might know, I've been less than thrilled with the quality of my Solo. The loose safety wasn't a huge problem, but the failures to eject and load have been ridiculous. The gun has been fairly reliable after a couple trips back to the factory, but I prefer "perfectly reliable" over "fair." The gun currently has about 700-800 rounds though it.

So after the the last trip out, I noticed a little wear on the barrel. Check out the attached picture. The dark area is right where the barrel changes shape, for those of you who have a Solo in front of you to examine closely. There is also some lengthwise wear along the barrel, but it's much less than the spot where I'm pointing.

Now take a look at the picture of the slide. You'll see wear on the two lugs that correspond with the wear on the barrel.

So it's obvious that the fit is/was a little too tight, which created the wear marks. My thoughts are that an excessively tight fit will cause a slight bind, and result in lost momentum of the slide. The lost momentum will create failures to eject, and failures to properly chamber a round.

Now if this was an older gun that was out of warranty, I would carefully polish the area of wear, creating a little more clearance and smoother operation. For this gun, I guess I'll just continue to shoot it and hope that it becomes more reliable. If I was one of the guys who liked their guns to remain blemish-free, this would be a major disappointment.

What do you guys think?

I've gotten to where I don't pay any attention to simple use wear or even holster wear. It's gonna happen, may as well get used to it.
