Thought I Had a Lemon...Then I loaded some HST +Ps

This was kind of an impulse buy. It just seemed like everything you would ever want in a pocket sized 9mm. As it turned out, it is afaic. After about a dozen FTEs out of 100 rounds of Blazer FMJ 124 gr, I was ready to send it back to Yonkers. Then I read up about the ammo requirements which, I confess, sounded like bullshit initially. So back to the range I went with about 60 Federal HST +Ps. It took me 1 magazine to figure out that I didn't have the slide stop spring engaged with the slide stop. I disassembled it and reassembled it properly and proceeded to blow through the rest of the HST +Ps without a hiccup. It functioned flawlessly with the HSTs and a few drops of lube in the appropriate places. Recoil is brutal. Had to apply a bandaid to my trigger finger and there's a nice new blister on my ring finger.

I'm not sure that a steady diet of +P would be advised but glad you finally had a good experience with it.

This thing probably isn't going to have a steady diet of anything. It is definitely not a range toy. Kind of like a scandium aluminum J frame .357 magnum. I happened to have several boxes of the +P HSTs though so that's what I went with today. I'll be making an ammo order here soon and I plan on trying something a little cooler than +P HSTs though. I hear golden sabers work well and aren't as painful to shoot.

I don't think the +P will damage the pistol; I'm worried about your hands. 😩

Question: Was you aware of the issues a lot of Solo's had and being discontinued from Kimber's production before you made your purchase?

Asking for a friend.

Happy it worked out...surprised but happy.

Mine runs fine with standard pressure 124 grain Gold Dots or HST. Does good with the 147 grain also. Recoil isnít all that bad.
