Call Me Crazy....

....but I've been contemplating buying another Solo. Yeah, I know the risks, especially since mine first one is now dead and buried. But the EVO has caught my eye, and the only reason I haven't bought one is that it is, based on my experience, just a bit larger than I would want to carry in my preferred manner (AIWB). Which brought me full circle back to my Solo, which for the time it lasted was the best pistol I've ever owned for EDC.

But then I remembered one of my biggest concerns when I owned my Solo...spare parts. Specifically, recoil springs. I just did a quick Google search, and I came up with a single source...a seller on eBay who only has 7 to sell, and who is listing them at $48. When those go, I think buyers may be out of luck.

Does anyone know of a source that I've missed??

The EVO and the solo are similarly sized.

Everything I've read for specs shows the EVO as .6" longer and .5" taller. At the hip that isn't a big deal, but for appendix it is significant. And it also appears to be 2 ounces heavier.

The Evo is my AIWB gun. On paper it may be a tad larger and heavier, but I honestly can't imagine that little making any real difference. And the Evo is an incomparably better gun. I would think that more than offsets the tiny edge the Solo has statistically.

If you liked the Solo you are going to love the Evo. JMO.

I have ordered a solo holster, and my EVO fits like it was designed for it. I have a spring kit on the shelf from the Kimber store for the EVO. Grips are available to change panels, and backstraps for size modifications. Watch for rebates, or discounts.

That maybe why the EVO functions properly.

during the summer my first solo [ which I bought used] started having light primer strikes. I called Kimber and they had new striker and spring in stock. I think they charged me 15 bucks for both. I asked about parts avail and was told they have a fairly large supply. He said I was the only person who asked for parts besides recoil springs. I wonder if wolf springs has anything that would work? It would be worth a call to ask. I do have a couple back up solos so when the first one craps out it will be my parts gun. I know I just opened a can of worms but I also happen to like them the same as Bascobarbell. What I edc is a sig 365, you cant beat the capacity and size.
