Play in barrel

Hi I am new to kimber and am not sure on this one. I just bought a solo carry and when the slide is toward like a round is chambered ready to shoot the barrel has a very small amount of play but can be heard when the gun is shaken is this a normal thing does anyone else have this in the pistol?

Welcome Kimber. I know when the slide is pulled back or locked the barrel is very loose with significant movement and play. Even my LGS dealer was surprised. However, once the slide is closed it seems to lock in place. I don't recall and don't believe I heard any movement once the slide was released and chambered.
Again, it has been a while as I have since retired the pistol. But that movement of the barrel always puzzled me.

its a designed in movement. I'm sure that you've already noticed the movement when the slide is back. The movement when it is forward is less and as it should be but a little surprising to a new owner. I remember reading about it in all the articles hailing the Solo.

I remember when I was going through my Solo angst. I was sure that the little play in the barrel was why I was expieremcing so many failure to feeds. It eventually worked its why through to 100% operation and the play was still there.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your Solo.

There should not be any play in barrel when the slide is closed or in battery, pull yer slide back and lock it without the mag in it and release it several times with the slide release so it releases full force see if that helps.

Kimber2016, welcome to the site from Tennessee. Since I don't own a Solo I will leave comments to other members.

I don't own a Solo and have no experience with them so I can only suggest. Have you tried shooting the gun off of a rest (eliminating the human factor) and noticed any problems with accuracy? If you have then contact customer service:

Customer Service
Toll-Free: (888) 243-4522
Hours: MF, 9 a.m.7 p.m. Eastern

If not then just shoot the gun and enjoy it, you have a one year warranty in writing from Kimber and basically an unwritten warranty for a hell of an unknown long time.

Seams to shoot a little low but that was 25 quick shots to break it in but I am taking it to the ranger Friday to put it through its paces. Just like I do with all of my edc pistol. 75 to 100 rounds without trouble and its ready the be worn in a holster. Hasn't given me any other problems.
