Kimber Compact CDP II ejector issue?

Hi Everyone, Has anyone experienced casings to to forehead when firing? I just fired the first 85 rounds and had this happen more times than not. At first, I thought it had to do with the way in which I was holding my CDP but it turned out not to be the case. I'm wondering now if the problem is an extractor that needs to be adjusted or the type of rounds used (Winchester White box). It just seems strange that new out of the box the extractor could be the cause.

Mine did the same thing a couple of times until I ran 3 or 4 hundred rounds through it. Love Mine that's the only problem I had. Good excuse to shoot more.

Thanks Squekie. I took her to the range today and tried different ammo and was only hit a couple of times out of the 200 rounds fired. My first day of firing (12/26) I used Winchester White box. Today, I used MagTech and had better accuracy and fewer casings (2) to the forehead. I'm thinking firing more rounds will smooth things out just like you've experienced. I have to admit, I love mine as well! Have a Happy New Year!

I had a NIB Smith and Wesson 1911 that did the same thing. Had to send it in twice , ended up changing out extractor. Worked fine after that.

Hi NVKIMBER,

Happy New Year! Sounds like I'll need to keep an eye on this extractor issue. I contacted Kimber who told me that I needed to have a couple of other shooters fire it to rule out the shooter before sending it back. I found that kind of strange but I did it anyways and they had the same results. However, once I changed the ammo to MagTech, the problem appeared to clear up. I'll pay closer attention to it on my next range trip. If it happens again, I"ll try the same route you followed sending it back to be checked. Thanks

Kimber Conversion Kit

Last month I purchased my Kimber Pro CDP II and also the conversion kit together. Shot the conversion on three separate times. First it's fun to shoot and is good for someone who has never shot before. Anyway, had a few FTE and FTL but the gun is not broke in. Used CCI Blazer 40 grain high velocity bullets; canít find any CCI Mini Mags.

The FTL caused dry fires. While cleaning the gun I noticed the firing pin had left an indentation in the top of barrel. With just my naked eye it appears the indentation had rolled a little burr in the inside of barrel. Picked up the empty casings, there is a small mark on each casing that shows a small grove next to the area the firing pin hits. Has anyone had the same experience?

break in

purchased a tactical pro 9mm a couple of weeks ago.owners manual break-in
period reads"for proper breakin shoot 400 - 500 rounds of quality fatory 230g.fmj ammo, clean and lubricate gun every 100 - 150 rounds" . i would at least shoot the 500 rounds before sending gun back . kimbers have very tight tolerances and need the break - in. mine had 3 fails in the first 50 rounds ,0 in the next 50. I then cleaned and oiled the gun ,shot another 150 rounds with no problems. also the ejects became more consistent . as expensive as kimbers are i say follow the break - in closley.
