Tul Ammo

I was in Walmart tday (man there ammo shelves were almost empty) But they did have some Tula 45acp 230g steel jacketed for $16 a box of 50 the assistant said its pretty dirty ammo but it's good for range time , anyways I thought what the hell so I bought two boxes. This may have been discussed before but have any of you guys used Tula ammo in your 1911's if so how did it perform?? not sure about steel as opposed to brass .

I have used about 10 boxes in my PCII 45 and I didn't have an issue at all.It was a little dirty, but not much more than any other ammo. The only thing is you will see a puff of smoke with each round fired. Also, check with your local range you shoot at to make sure it's okay to use since most don't have anyway to separate the brass casings from the steel when they clean it up off the range floor for sell back to the mfg plants.

Tul ammo works. I do believe it is quite a bit dirtier them most ammo I've used. I'm not a fan of steel cases. I currently don't reload but I'm going to start. You can't reload steel.

Same price as WWB or Remington UMC at my local Walmart. I'll take those two over steel cased Tul Ammo any day.
Insta-Gator likes this.

Unless you do a lot of shooting, reloading doesn't pay itself off.I/we shoot 400 rounds every week, and I have done the math of reloading vs buying new and it just doesn't work $$$ wise.

I don't know, I was at the range today with my shooting buddy who reloads. He's shooting 45ACP for about 20 cents a round by his calculations. You made a comment somewhere earlier that sounded like you're not allowed to pick up the brass where you shoot. That would definitely add to the cost.
