Looking for my next CC

Ok KT, I'm seriously looking for my next gun. Needs to be small enough for me to carry and I want something bigger than a 9mm. Already have and love my Micro 9.

So far I'm considering the ultra carry II but honestly I've only really looked at Kimbers. I'm open to suggestions for a revolver or 1911 style. Hubby has a Springfield XD Mod 2 that I'm not really fond of. Not comfortable for me to hold.

What do you guys have or recommend for EDC thats not a .380 or a 9? I know they are good choices I just really want something with a higher caliber.

Glock 27 or 23 .40, and/or a commander sized 1911 in .45. These are the guns I carry more then any other.

As you're surely aware, as you go up in caliber, you're going to increase gun dimensions, and decrease concealability. That's a challenge for those of us who live where there's nice weather. Your only real options for caliber are going to be .40 and .45. I'm prejudiced and disliked .40 from its introduction. Besides, .45 ACP really IS a fun caliber to shoot.

Since you've written off Springfield, the guns that would interest me would be one of the Kimber Ultras, or an HK USP Compact. The Kimbers are all 1911 style, and pretty like a princess. They're complicated mechanisms, sometimes requiring extra attention to maintain reliability. The HK is a serious combat weapon, ugly like a bulldog, but will function perfectly from the day you take it out of the box until the day your heirs discover it in Granny Snow's dusty attic. The HK comes with a variety of trigger options, and it's a bit bigger than the Kimber.

Agree what Brew said, pick the features you want from Kimber's Ultra model line.
I carry either CDP Ultra or RCP Ultra every day...well every day that I have to go someplace. All are .45acp, except as noted.

The Taurus Public Defender. Very versatile and powerful. 410 slugs or heavy shot and one or two 45 long colts. I can easily put it in my pocket. Second choice is my Kahr PM45. Very reliable and fits perfectly in my front pocket also with a couple extra magazines in my other pocket. Winter or summer and it's ready at hand, and if there's any hands on or physical combat involved they stay put and aren't going to pop out of a holster.

I agree with Rusty, the HK USP 45 compact is a great gun. It's ugly as hell but when you hold it, it feels great in your hand. I don't think many will argue about the reliability of an HK. I also like the Sig P220. The Ultra is also another great choice. I had several Springfield XD and XDS guns and never really cared for the triggers, so I got rid of them.

Excellent suggestions. .40 will satisfy that need for *POP* Have had G23 and G27 for a long time. But I still prefer my Ultra or Pro .45s to carry.

Wow, thanks for the comments and suggestions guys! Gives me some other options to start looking at. I would like another Kimber but before I put out the money I wanted to be sure I had looked at all my options. I've asked at my LGS and get poor feedback. They want to talk to my husband instead of me... Pisses me off!
Also was told by one person there that HK was a horrible manufacturer and he wouldn't sell one unless someone insisted.... so it's interesting to see the HK USP recommended above. I wouldn't have even looked at them based on what I had heard.

Anyway, thanks again and I'll start doing some more research!!
